nao katafuchi is a new york based japanese artist. living in lower manhattan for more that 20 years, nao has made an internationally interesting mini album lost somewhere between the future and the past. all of the music was made using a semi modern groovebox, guitar, and voice. this musical combination created a new wave cyberpop atmosphere that would not be out of place in a bar in liquid sky, blade runner, or total recall. trashy japanese retro-future pop out of new york city!

total control dislocate expectations with this inaugural home loan records 12 inch. not the charged up paranoid vox/guitar/drums combo that we have become accustomed to through their visceral live shows - instead men with machines producing pensive proto-tech experiments and tense industrial wave. includes the original version of carpet rash which was re-recorded in full band mode for henge beat, and two previously unreleased immersive rhythm tracks formed through collaboration between guitarist mikey young and drummer james vinciguerra. vinciguerra would fire deranged beats down the hole while young would jam over them, watching waves in a trance from his perch at phillip island. on the flip we find two reconstructions from home loan manager michael ozone. carpet rash receives the club re-contextualisation with ozone fully utilising its penetrating synth hook, while new age hop climbs the arabic scale.

it is a cold dark winter – snow is lying everywhere. simon12345 and the lazer twins are heading up north into a little wooden house in the northern parts of denmark. they will live there for the next weeks and build up a temporary studio in this secluded cottage. simon has got a handful of sketches with him. musical states of mind and conceptual games he developed over the last years. basically the idea is to develop something truly unique and powerful – although none of them knows how that will sound exactly or what will happen in particular during this time. it is not even clear who plays which instrument, who will do what…nothing is set. the only thing clear is that they have things to say, things that have been burning in them for so long now. tell me. how can (mostly) instrumental music suggest a way of life? how can you criticize without pointing at something particular? how can music transport you into place of quietness and self reflection?

for the first solo ep on horror boogie, fedka the irritant steps up, after his outstanding track on horror boogie 01. fedka the irritant is probably best known as the trombonist in the excellent band pest (ninja tune), alongside ben pest (panic bridge, victim, bonus round). he is also a seriously original and versatile producer in his own right. he has released on panic bridge, alongside the other pest members and his trombone techno live sets are something to behold. here, he drops four varied tracks, starting with the behemoth >words for friends<. a heavy slice of wonky techno, with a big kick and rasping synth. next up is one uncertain eyebrow. a building, funky, fuzzy acid-laced track that drops harder and harder as it goes on. on side b, calypso-flavoured, jazzed up >stick it< progresses on to a become a warbling bass effort with a smooth hip-hop vocal. last but not least, is >you only die once<, another funk-laden monster, with a killer slap bass line.

in definition of japanese deep electronic music, pan records yet again compiled the various artist ep with full of surprises. as opposed to previous releases, ambient is the word to describe this forthcoming ep, not forgetting its deepness lies within. sven weisemann from berlin is making his debut to pan, showing much love for the label. dynamic and elaborative wave of sounds, together makes continuous teasing build up throughout. he will be only the second non-japanese artist to be appeared on this label.

4th release by 12records, presenting the new deep88 >removing dust< ep (taken from the forthcoming >removing dust< album that will be released later on this year). main single is a2 >the vibe<, a classic 90s beat made over a real melody, where vocals parts crossover and match each others, in two differents peaks, to create a whole >vibe< flow from the start till the end of the song. a1 is a test signal experiment, where samples take a different level, a sort of meta sample, a sample into a sample… well, have a listen, its easier to understand that way. bside is 3 tracks long, not a common practice in todays ep releases. b1 >grancartridge<, a moodymann house style raw song, b2 is even more raw sampling style, meanwhile b3 is a dreamy vocal house tune more common to deep88s style. the result is a mature ep, that ntroduces the 2nd deep88 album, always on 12records, and that will bring him into that >serious< realm of making house that is seen in some elite today (funny isn’t it… at the end it is just about music and we all have ears… maybe)... btw less marketing on our head, this 12inch wont be a coloured or hand written limited release, just the good old classic black one (yes it sounds better folks) and no limited copies… when is close to finish we will repress as usual.

surely not is a brilliant house number with moodyman indebted drum pattern based around a soul edged vocal sample which unfolds into a deep late night groover. this is an essential release for detroit aficionados. on the flipside earl goes in with british knights a frenetic subloaded tribal number with a lot of swagger and the odd nod to classic todd edwards and afrika bambaataa along the way. this one is all about the stabbing repetition and the infectious bass line that builds and builds euphorically until it drops into a rhythm track that commands the hips to move and the fist to punch the sky.

sex tags mania warehouse find! this might not be one of those popular ware house finds you run into these days, but still, from a storage of a friend of a friend this got dug out. almost brand new but never sold in any amount - a german-french(?) 12 as great as the summer. straight to the b, you know that track you hear, not on any given sunday, but only the exeptionally good ones, the track that sonically floats around, though maybe being to euphoric, still gathers everybody in the area to some sort of silent agreement of peace. usually these musical pieces are found as single items on flee markets if you re a proper digger or have straight out beginners luck. maybe the world has turned up side down, because this beauty has german lyrics (with an instrumental following).

it has been out of stock for quit some time now, even though it is considered a classic album within the viking/pagan metal genre. so we decided to re-release this classic album full of mighty pagan hymns! this release differs from the original, because we added all lyrics and we re-mastered the sound. for all of those who do not have this album a nice opportunity to buy the roughest and first album of thyrfing and to enjoy songs such as >raven eyes<, >set sail to plunder< or the classic >going berserk<. the album contains ten bombastic yet catchy viking metal tunes that are filled with nice keyboard melodies, berserker vocals and pounding guitar riffs.

check this out - before going on holiday here it comes! for the most sophisticate clubbers, a new pearl signed wwr, the current most ambiguous label! lazy but not dead, when the duo altarboy moves its ass theres no crap to cut. the synth programmings on this 12 inch is pure analogical sound. the lows on the two tracks draw the rhythm with an able mix of roland, korg e moogs timbre. the rest comes around and sounds great. the detune on the second part of lazy ass is for real experts. go rejoin yourself with the well done house.

fantastic remastered reissue of the highly collectable 1977 original uk ice records release >nobody s got time / timewarp<. produced by eddy grant and performed by the in-house band of his coach house recording studio, side bs groundbreaking instrumental >time warp< is the absolute must-have here. this deep and minimal track takes you on weird reggae-tinged psychedelic disco journey and is hailed as a seminal early proto-house classic popular in chicago as well as being huge in ny at mancusos loft, paradise garage etc. with its unmistakable falsetto riff, tweaky synths and a walloping bassline, this truly is a timeless electronic weapon! side as >nobodys got time< is more of the same but layered with eddys great gravelly soulful caribbean vocals - super funky. do not miss this!
